Rivarly Description:

There are not a high number of competing firms. There are countless one-of-a-kind sport apparel shops around the worldd, but there are not a direct competition for us. Firstly The major number of sport stores sells ratailing clothes of other famous brands, then those brands if sell original clothes do not sell some differentiation inMost of this countless companies are for an specific sport performance and are too specialized, then some of them are just for woman or just for men, and finally there are not a great number of relative small companies with less than 5 locations in the same city. In conclution there is a small amount of direct competence and among competitiors, they have relative the same size.

Sportswear, has increased its sales in international markets, these products currently account for 20 percent of total exports of textiles - clothing in Colombia. Alejandra Mejia's company representative Adriana Arango , a company with 20 years of experience in the domestic market, said that demand has increased over the past two years to the point that foreign purchases represent 60 % of total sales." The overseas market has grown considerably by the trends of healthy living and comfort worldwide, we offer such special designs for fashion takes independent of the activity the person is doing, so is sleeping " said Mrs. Mejia, and  Mexico , Panama , Bolivia and Ecuador are the largest buyers of sportswear (Caracol Radio. Crece la demanda de ropa colombiana deportiva y pijamas en el exterior. 2016). So the demand of sports apparel is continiously increasing and being profitable for some Colombian companies that export.

Over the forecast period sales of sportswear are predicted to generate a value CAGR of 3% at constant 2015 prices, faring better than the review period average. The increasing interest among Colombians in living healthier lifestyles, including the practising of different disciplines, will continue being the most important sales growth driver. Although prices are expected to increase as a consequence of the strong devaluation of the Colombian peso, with harder impacts in 2015 and 2016, it is not expected that demand will drop significantly.

To conclude, rivarly is weak between small sport firms selling original clothes and innovation on design.

4.Potential Development of Substitute Products

There are plenty of companies selling a substitute product of sports apparel. Massive sports wear generally becomes in monocromatic tones, can be purchased at low prices and quality is not always the best. Massive sport wear is mostly of cotton-polyester in where the polyester mix represents almost the 70% of the total fabric composition, making the apparel defective and products does not last.

Some examples of substitute products are:

According with an investigation about sportswear costumers preferences, it was found that the main consumers are young people into the trend of fitness lifestyle, then they prefer:

  • Clothes made with some high tech fabric (keeps dry, preserve warming, humectates skin, etc)

  • Colorfull apparel and they don't want to have something they will find in another person, they wanna be original. They don't wanna look similar.

  • The fitness apparel are generally expensive, so people want it to last.

In conclution there is a great potential development of substitute products, but consumers also prefer diferentiated and original apparel.

3.Potential Entry of New Competitors

Over the review period, people in Colombia and around the world showed a greater interest in leading healthier lifestyles, which not only involved improved eating habits, but incorporating exercise in daily routines. As well as going to gyms, more people were running, walking or practising other disciplines in the open air or at home. These changes in lifestyles, which are more commonly observed among young generations, are the driving forces behind the performance of sportswear sales, which over the review period posted a current value CAGR of 6%.

Because of this increasing in demand of sportswear, the potential entry of new competitors is high. During november 2015 a positive dynamic in creation of companies in the country was recorded, the number generated increase of 10.3 % compared with the same month last year, according to the Single and Social Business Registration (Rues), which is administered by Confecámaras. From this percentage the manufacturing industry represented 2,177 of new companies. The departments who led the creation of companies this year were: Bogota ( 5,201 ) , Antioquia ( 3040 ) , Valle del Cauca ( 1,546 ), Santander ( 1036 ) and Cundinamarca ( 1,173 ).

Requirement for high capital and research investments could limit the entry of new players; however, there is a threat from new e-commerce players. Having said that, there is the believe that more Internet companies could start selling competitors sportwear, apparel and equipment online as the barriers to entry are low in this business.

The increasing of dollar also helps the entry of new competitors. With online sales, Colombian sportswear industry will gain in dollar and multiplying profits; the positive element with the exchange rate is that allows companies to start exporting and obtain better prices on international markets.

In conclution, there is a great environment for those enterprises that will emerge. Also the rate of new ones is high comparing the few last years increasing the probabilities of an entry of a new competitor

5. Bargaining Power of Suppliers

In Colombia there are not a large number of suppliers of sports fabrics and specially in sublimation process or pattern printers. Some of the small companies that sales fabrics for sports apparel industries are Lafayette, Facol, Supertex, Mayatex, and Lycra. The real deal is that it is too expensive for companies without a economy of scale and do not need km and km of the same fabric produced. To dye a sinthetic fabric is also expensive and companies do not sell personal patterns if the buyer want a little amount of the dyed fabric.

The fabric companies mentioned are large ones, Supertex (a Colombian fabric industry) for example has four plants, two in Colombia, in Cali and Pereira and two in El Salvador in Santa Ana and Lourdes. They also have two calls Superprint stamping plants, one in Colombia and one in El Salvador. They concentrated initially productive operation in Cali and continued manufacturing for brands include Jantzen, Speedo and Nike. Since then they manufactured major sporting goods brands in the world such as Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, Patagonia, Zumba , New Balance, North Face, Arena, among others. Currently they exports to five continents but its main customer is the United States for its commercial coverage.

Another factor is that this fabric brands offers some benefits like somthing known as "full package" meaning that this companies are responsible with the development of garments, purchasing of raw materials and inputs, the manufacturing and shipping of products to customers. Benefits that small or domestic companies cannot offer. Small fabric companies do not have the option of create an exclusive fabric for the brand and are more expensive than larger ones.

In conclution with the dollar value it is not a good idea to import fabrics, and in Colombia suppliers have a great amount of bargaing power on One-of-a-kind Sports shop.

6. Bargaining Power of Consumers

The bargaining power of onsumers is relatively high because:

  • Customers hold certain degree of bargaining leverage as they could substitute Ancora's products with other competitors products or private label offerings to gain higher margins.

  • Bargaining power of customers is lower when Ancora among other brands tries to innovative in product portfolio and high quality products also to sell a totally new experience and connect with young consumers by social networks.

  • However, customers could also gravitate towards other brands on account of factors such as price, advertising, product sponsorship, shiping facilities and changing styles.

  • Because consumers belong to the social network generation, they have baraining power by posting positive or negative conent all above the net. Consumers commentaries are a fundamental point into recognizement, good reputation and can be helping to gain profits or can be totally brand destructive. So there is a power gain in consumers.

In conclution power od cosumer are RELATIVELY high, because unless they have the power of social networking and choose which brand to shop, Ancora bring differentiation and a new experience among their competitors.
